Meet Mayor Reed

A life in public service. A record of delivering for Trenton.

Before becoming mayor, Mayor Reed represented Trenton in the New Jersey General Assembly from 1996 to 2018 and served as Deputy Majority Leader. He led committees focused on economic development, the environment, and regulatory oversight.

As mayor, he has brought that experience home—securing historic state support, rebuilding the water system, investing in public safety and parks, and moving long-stalled housing and downtown projects forward.

Gusciora: Trenton must choose progress over politics

Ahead of the December 8 runoff, Mayor Reed tells Trenton Journal the race is a choice between eight years of progress and an untested mayor, and that investment is a confidence game. He points to state aid that grew from $6 million a year in 2018 to $67.3 million this year, more than 11,000 lead service lines replaced, a 20% reduction in violent crime, a Moody's credit upgrade, and equalized property values up 72%.
