For more than three decades, Trenton has been at the heart of my public service. I became Trenton's 49th mayor in 2018 after representing our city in the New Jersey General Assembly for more than two decades. I was honored to be re-elected in 2022, and I am running for a third term to keep Trenton moving forward.
As mayor, I have focused on strengthening our finances, rebuilding our neighborhoods and improving essential city services. Since 2018, Trenton has received more than a quarter of a billion dollars in state aid, replaced more than 11,000 lead service lines and secured major investments in affordable housing, parks, senior centers and downtown redevelopment. We have also pursued a public-safety strategy that combines effective law enforcement with community-based violence prevention, mental-health crisis response and greater police accountability.
Before becoming mayor, I served in the General Assembly from 1996 to 2018, rising to Deputy Majority Leader and chairing committees responsible for economic development, environmental policy and regulatory oversight. I helped enact the New Jersey Smoke-Free Air Act, legalize medical marijuana, expand prescription-drug assistance for seniors and advance marriage equality. I also led the successful effort to restore the $150 million Trenton High School project after it was canceled in 2014.
I earned my bachelor's degree from The Catholic University of America and my law degree from Seton Hall University. I have also served as a congressional aide, attorney, assistant prosecutor for the City of Trenton, municipal prosecutor and adjunct professor at The College of New Jersey.
I am running for a third term to continue replacing lead service lines, rebuilding our neighborhoods, supporting small businesses, restoring community facilities, keeping residents safe and protecting the financial progress we have made together.
Let's choose progress over politics in the December 8 runoff.

Mayor Reed Gusciora
